twitching or jerking movements, uncontrollable movements of mouth, tongue and limb, muscle stiffness or spasm, increased appetite, drowsiness, constipation, anxiety, weight gain

Had to take this anti-psychotic due to psychotic delusions from steroids in Pulmicort Inhaler. This medicine definetly works to reduce mania and delusions, and also helps with sleep. But you can't stop eating, and will gain large amounts of weight. In addition it gave me bad anxiety. After I stopped taking it (due to weight gain), I started to develop some signs of tardive dsykensia (twitching of the mouth and tongue, and fingers). Thankfully it didnt progress. Zyprexa can mask the signs of tardive dyskinesia, and when you stop taking it, then the symptoms can start (twitching, etc.) This can be permanent. .... Read More

steroid psychosis

feelings of restless or jitteriness, Diabetes, swelling of hands, ankles or feet, weight gain, increase in sugar(glucose) in blood

I had blood work done just prior to beginning Zyprexa and at that time my triglycerides were slightly elevated, but my doctor didn't feel it would be problematic. Unfortunately, he was wrong -- within 3 weeks I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I will be going off both Zyprexa & Serequel as a result of this 'side effect'. I strongly urge anyone who may be at risk for heart disease or high blood sugars to seriously weigh the positives vs negatives of taking these drugs, as their side effects are deadly. .... Read More
